A 'protocol' is the label used when there are at least four properties sharing the drainage system, usually where there has been a history of problems.
It is used where there is actual damage to the drainage system, rather than to clear short term blockages.
UKDP project manages these shared drainage scenarios.
Who pays for the shared drainage repairs?
Repairs for your shared drainage systems are usually covered by your buildings insurance - all you will be required to pay is the excess on your policy which is usually around £50.
